We Are All One Body

Updated: May 3, 2021

We are all amazingly unique, but in God’s eyes, ethnicity, social and economic status, and culture doesn’t matter. What matters to Him is that we love one another, and this love should be expressed through faith in Him through Jesus Christ.

People mean the most to God, and how we love one another is the single most important aspect of the commission of Christ.

1John 4:16-17(NLT)

“16 We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. 17 And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. 18 Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. 19 We love each other because he loved us first.”

Many of the social problems and issues we face today are perpetuated because we have not learned to walk in God’s love in a way that impacts our own lives and the lives of others. Very often patterns of behavior that go against the grain of love have been passed down through generations. If unaddressed, these patterns will continue to rob future generations of the intimate relationship God desires with us all. Without our commitment to continue the legacy of the love of Christ, present and future generations may be spiritually lost and therefore forced to live a life beneath their privilege. God doesn’t want this, and He’s given us a way to prevent it.

God’s love can heal the wounds of past generations and protect the endurance of future generations to win the race He has destined them to run. We don’t often see ourselves as powerful conduits of God’s love, but we are the ones to bridge generations in the unity of Christ and to uphold an enduring legacy that fortifies the body of Christ continually.

We can do it because God has perfectly equipped us through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit to get it done. To keep pace, we must remain obedient and humble to the Spirit’s guidance. He will keep us spiritually strong if we keep our minds captivated with God’s Word, and our hearts saturated with His love.
